The airport, which is next to the U.S. military's Biggs Army Airfield and sits over the border from the Mexican city of ‌Juarez, said all flights had been grounded, in a post on Instagram. El Paso airport said the restrictions had been issued “on short notice” and it was waiting for additional guidance from the FAA, according to The New York Times. Flights were also barred from the airspace ‌over the nearby community of Santa Teresa in the U.S. state of New Mexico, the FAA said. Restrictions would be in place until February 21 and covered a radius of about 10 nautical miles from ‌the airport, not including Mexican airspace, the agency added. The FAA did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for details ‌about the security reasons. The airport handled 3.49 million passengers in the first 11 months of 2025, according to its website. Major U.S. airlines including Southwest, Delta, ‌United and American fly there. https://www.yahoo.com/news/articles/us-halts-flights-texass-el-091532097.html Turbulence warning was not relayed to plane before flight attendants were seriously injured Pilots aboard a United Airlines flight where three flight attendants were seriously injured were not warned about turbulence reported by a plane in front of them, the National Transportation Safety Board concluded Tuesday. United Flight 1890 was traveling from Los Angeles to Newark Liberty International Airport on February 10, 2024, when the Boeing 777 aircraft flew into the unstable air as it was descending. Tuesday’s final report concluded a two-year investigation. Thunderstorms and other severe weather were predicted in the general area, but the plane’s radar and electronic weather instruments did not indicate “significant turbulence activity along their descent path,” the NTSB found. Three minutes before the incident another plane reported “moderate turbulence” in the same area to an air traffic controller, but the information did not get passed along to the United flight. The controller told the NTSB they did not hear the report. “The controller did not acknowledge or disseminate this report to other aircraft, including UAL1890, as required by Federal Aviation Administration procedures for Pilot Weather Reports,” the NTSB report said. The fasten-seatbelt sign was on and the flight attendants were performing final cabin checks when the plane suddenly dropped, then violently pitched back up. Radar indicated the wind speed changed by nearly 75 miles per hour within just 4,000 feet. One flight attendant was lifted to the celling and then thrown to the floor, fracturing her spine. Two other flight attendants were injured and lost consciousness in the galley, with one having a shattered femur, crushed vertebrae and a head injury. The other had facial cuts and bleeding in their brain. Other flight attendants and several passengers who did not have seatbelts on also hit the ceiling, including a baby being held on a lap and someone in the lavatory. https://www.yahoo.com/news/articles/turbulence-warning-not-relayed-plane-003413314.html Mid-Air Safety Scare Averted: British Airways Crew Hospitalized After Passenger Hands Out Marijuana-Laced Sweets on London-LA Flight Three British Airways cabin crew members were hospitalized for consuming marijuana-infused sweets handed out by a passenger on a London–Los Angeles flight. Mid-Air Safety Scare Averted: British Airways Crew Hospitalized After Passenger Hands Out Marijuana-Laced Sweets on London-LA Flight London: Three cabin crew members of British Airways were rushed to a hospital after consuming marijuana-laced sweets handed out to them by a passenger during a flight from London to Los Angeles. The incident took place last week on the London Heathrow to Los Angeles flight when a passenger gave the crew sweets as a gesture of thanks. The cabin crew members were unaware the sweets contained THC - the main psychoactive compound in marijuana - with each edible reportedly containing up to 300 mg of the drug. The crew did not eat the sweets during the flight. They consumed them after the aircraft had landed in Los Angeles, reportedly on the crew bus on the way to their hotel. Soon after, the three began experiencing frightening “out-of-body” sensations and panic, according to sources cited in the report. Alarmed colleagues realised something was wrong, and the affected staff were taken to a local hospital for treatment. They have since been discharged. British Airways said there was no impact on passenger safety and that a fresh crew operated subsequent services. British Airways has launched a formal probe into the episode to determine how the items were brought onboard, whether aviation or security regulations were violated, and if the passenger involved could face legal consequences. The airline is also reviewing its internal safety guidance to reinforce rules about accepting food or drink from passengers, particularly on international routes where substances legal in one jurisdiction may be restricted or illegal in another. British Airways confirmed that the crew members will not be charged, as they were unaware the edibles contained cannabis. A source told Hindustan Times that the airline is taking the incident seriously, warning that had the sweets been consumed during active duty at 30,000 ft, the consequences “don’t bear thinking about.” Investigators are exploring whether the passenger could face police charges. The episode has raised concerns about travellers gifting items that resemble ordinary sweets but can carry potent substances. https://www.republicworld.com/world-news/mid-air-safety-scare-averted-british-airways-crew-hospitalized-after-passenger-hands-out-marijuana-laced-sweets-on-londonla-flight Bombardier Announces Major Challenger 3500 Order From Longtime Customer Vista Ordered by Vista and its commonly controlled entities, firm orders of 40 Challenger 3500 business aircraft are valued at US$1.18 billion based on 2026 list prices Orders also include 120 new aircraft purchase options; if all options are exercised, the total orders value for all 160 aircraft would reach US$4.72 billion1 Orders reflect high market confidence in Challenger 3500 jets’ exceptional performance, reliability and cabin comfort Bombardier today announced firm orders from longtime customer Vista and its commonly controlled entities for 40 Challenger 3500 business aircraft, with purchase options for an additional 120 aircraft.
